Blog Guest: Mike Garrasi from Music Man Entertainment
Energy and excitement oozed from Mike Garrasi over the phone. He is the sole owner of Music Man Entertainment and clearly loves what he does. Mike is this week’s blog guest vendor and here are his thoughts on providing DJ services to weddings:
What makes a great wedding DJ?
Somebody fun, exciting and motivational who brings the life of the party to the party!
Describe your style:
My style is fun, classy, cool, exciting, energetic, and customizable.
What distinguishes you from others?
Experience. I have been doing this for years and years, totaling 5000+ weddings all over the Northeast. Also, I am owner/operator and sole employee. You hire me, you get me. I’m available 24/7, 365 days.
What’s the most important thing you’d like potential couples to know?
I will take their vision and customize it to knock their wedding out of the park. The most important part is the end result. It’s a process getting to know couples, what they like, and their music interests. I try to create a genuine friendship with the couples. I want couples to say they had the time of their life and the ultimate party. With proper planning, results will be incredible.
Best advice you’d give couples:
Get to know your vendors, do your research, read testimonials and reviews. Don’t base hiring a DJ on a website, have an in-person meeting. It’s important to develop a relationship and feel comfortable with the person. You are dealing with this person for at least a year and then on your wedding day. You need to know that they have your back and you should have utmost trust in them.
Favorite all time wedding:
‘Today is the best wedding of all time’. I want every wedding to be better than the last.
Who or what most influenced you?
I was inspired by MTV and concerts at a younger age; researched performers, what makes them tick and how they are able to have lifetime careers. I am aspiring to have my career last a lifetime. I need to be able to adapt to changing times and styles. Slow and steady wins the race. You have to go with the flow. This is the music business; it’s not just being a DJ. You have to watch trends so I go to seminars and learn from pros across the country.
What keeps you doing your job?
Making couples happy and watching people smile. The end result is having guests tell couples ‘your wedding was incredible’.
