Rotary Education Foundation Brunch
This Sunday, the 17th Annual Community Awards Brunch will take place from 11:30-2 at Saratoga City Center. The Saratoga Springs Rotary Education Foundation, established in 1997, conducts the brunch to both honor the service work of community members and to raise funds for scholarships awarded. This year’s honorees are Franklin Community Center, the first time an organization is being honored and it’s Executive Director, Kari Cushing; Dr. Philip Glotzbach, President of Skidmore College; and a Special Tribute to Florence Andresen, founding Board member. The brunch consists of delicious food provided by Longfellows, a silent auction and music by The Skidmore Dynamics, an a capella group from Skidmore College.
The mission of Rotary Club is to promote “service above self” which is the primary focus of the scholarship application process. This year the committee reviewed 60 applications and awarded 12 scholarships. The scholarships are not need based and allow students to continue performing service work in college. Applications are available in January, due by April 15 then awarded the end of May.
